For family members participating in Raising Generals activities and classes

Raising Generals is a nonprofit ministry offering classes, tutoring, community, and other activities for children. Classes are held online. For purposes of this agreement, “student” refers to the individual participating in Raising Generals classes. “Parent/guardian” refers to the student’s parent or legal guardian when the student is under 18.

1. CONSENT

In consideration of the opportunity for the student to participate voluntarily in Raising Generals, I give permission for the participating student to participate in Raising Generals through video conferencing and to engage in social interaction through the Band app.

I understand that the student’s participation in Raising Generals may be terminated at any time by class leaders, board members of Raising Generals, or by me.

2. RELEASE

In consideration of the opportunity for the student to participate in Raising Generals, I, on behalf of myself and the participating student when applicable, voluntarily waive and relinquish any rights, actions, or causes of action resulting from personal injury or death to any member of my family, or damage to my family’s property, sustained in connection with participation in Raising Generals.

I agree to hold harmless Raising Generals and its members, teachers, leaders, volunteers, successors, assigns, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, rights, or causes of action arising out of or resulting from participation in Raising Generals.

I AGREE NOT TO SUE Raising Generals, ITS MEMBERS, TEACHERS, VOLUNTEERS, OR AFFILIATES in connection with any injuries or damages that occur as a result of participation in Raising Generals activities.

3. TECHNOLOGY

Parents/guardians agree to provide an appropriate technological environment for class participation for the student. In general, each student will need the following:

• Windows PC or Mac computer with a current version of a supported web browser and the appropriate Zoom app installed

• Access to the Band app through a web browser or mobile app. We will use this for Zoom links, reminders, and discussion.

• Microphone and speakers, either built-in or through a USB headset.

• Webcam

• Internet connection; broadband is recommended

4. RECORDINGS, PRIVACY & COMMUNICATION

Zoom Recordings:

Zoom recordings are intended only for students who miss class so they can watch the lesson later. Because our classes are designed to create space for vulnerability and authentic conversation, Raising Generals reserves the right not to record a class or to discard a recording if a student or parent/guardian requests that their participation not be shared or stored electronically.

Recordings are not to be downloaded, copied, shared, posted, or distributed without express written permission from Raising Generals.

Student Privacy:

Students and families are expected to respect the privacy of others participating in Raising Generals. Personal stories, conversations, prayer requests, or other private information shared during class or in the Band group should not be shared outside the group without permission.

Band Communication:

Students and instructors will be added to a closed group on the Band app, which we use to post syllabi, Zoom links, reminders, and class-related communication and discussion. Most students will have their own Band account. For younger students, a parent or guardian may use their own account on the student's behalf. Parents may also choose to join the group to monitor their student's participation and communication.
 

5. BEHAVIOR

By registering for classes with Raising Generals, parents/guardians and adult students affirm that they have read and agree to the following standards:

• Discussion is encouraged, and normal consideration for others is expected. Please do your best to stay on topic and refrain from interruptions while honoring others in this space. Chat facilities are intended to enhance class participation and should not be used in a manner that becomes a distraction for the student or others.

• Parents/guardians should ensure that students have a quiet space available for class attendance and participation. Please avoid consistent background noise or music playing during class.

• Students, parents/guardians, and auditors may not share passwords, login information, course materials, live class sessions, or class recordings with anyone without express written permission from Raising Generals.

• Parents/guardians, students, and Raising Generals leaders are expected to follow Biblical standards of behavior at all times. See the Raising Generals Leadership Handbook for additional guidance and reference.
   

6. KNOWING AND VOLUNTARY EXECUTION

I have carefully read this Waiver of Liability and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and Raising Generals, and I sign it of my own free will.

By signing this agreement, I certify that I am either (a) eighteen years of age or older and the parent or legal guardian of the participating student, or (b) eighteen years of age or older and the participating student.
