Space for facilitated discussion
A big desire for these classes is to create a safe space for discussion and community. In our culture, we are being bombarded with information all the time. However, opportunities to share and discuss what we are hearing and learning are scarce.
We don't want students to simply regurgitate information. We want them to think about what they're learning and build confidence to speak it out. We want them to solidify their beliefs so they feel prepared to lead their own groups in the future. We want to create opportunities for them to put into practice what they've heard, learned, and believe.

Course Descriptions:
Spiritual Disciplines - separated by sex
Just like it's important to exercise our physical muscles, it's also important to exercise our spiritual muscles. Some days it may not feel like fun, but over time we can see that we have been strengthened.
We are currently writing curriculum for this class around spiritual disciplines like Scripture reading, prayer, fasting, identity, the Holy Spirit, character, and more.
Each semester, there will be a parent-teacher conference where the teacher will communicate with you, the parent, the strengths and weaknesses they are seeing in your student in class.

Class time 1:10 hrs per week. Homework approx 2 hrs per week (20min a day).
Approx 40-45hrs per semester
Leadership Class
Healing, Equipping, and Activating Leaders is our mission, so it's only natural that we have a Leadership Training class.
Healing: First, we walk through our own healing so we can help others. We will grow in emotional maturity and find freedom in Christ from past trauma. We will seek the Holy Spirit to free us from the lies of the enemy and receive God's truth.
Equipping: Leadership begins with a firm foundation in the Lord and a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Christ was a servant leader, and that will be emphasized throughout this class. Communication, active listening, building rapport, empathetic responses, vulnerability, humility, and other leadership skills will be discussed and practiced.
Activating: This class is being built around a tiered model. At the beginning, students learn what it means to be a leader. As they grow, they will be given more responsibility and opportunities to help co-lead Spiritual Disciplines. The long-term desire for this class is to equip students to feel confident leading groups in their own circles and/or under the Raising Generals umbrella.

Who: Starting at grade 9. Must have had at least one semester of
Spiritual Disciplines at Raising Generals and be approved. Must continue
in Spiritual Disciplines class (tuition price includes both).

Time commitment details:
Spiritual Disciplines class time 1:10 hrs per week. Homework approx 2 hrs. per week.
Leadership class time 1:30 hrs per week. Homework 1-2 hrs per week.
Total 5:30-6 hrs week. Approx 75-90hrs per semester, equal to .5 credit.
Could be applied to High School transcript for Oral Comm,
Career focus or Elective as parents see fit.

Managers Meeting
Managers Meeting is a space dedicated to coaching and supporting students who are leading in small group settings within Raising Generals or their local spheres. This class will meet on Zoom every other week. There will be a separate Band group for students to reach out with comments, questions or concerns throughout the month as needed.
Who: Age 13 and above. Must be enrolled in Leadership class.

Relational Discipleship Model
Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 11:1
We often learn by what is modeled around us. We want to learn how to be disciples of Christ who make disciples. We need people in our lives ahead of us and behind us as we learn to walk out a life laid down—people we can learn from and people we can encourage along the way.
We grow well in healthy community, where we are encouraged by others who are also seeking to take the narrow road. We desire relationships that spur and encourage us onward and upward. In these classes, we want to build a safe community where teens can see other teens going deeper with the Lord.
Zoom
All classes are held on Zoom. If a student is absent, we may record the class so the student can watch it later. Class times are listed in the Central Time Zone.
Recording policy: Zoom recordings are intended only for students who miss class so they can watch the lesson later. Because these classes are designed to create space for vulnerability and authentic conversation, we reserve the right not to record a class or to discard a recording if a student prefers that their participation not be shared or stored electronically.
Communication Outside of Class
Students and instructors will be added to a closed group on the Band app, where they can continue discussions and build community outside of class.
Grades
At this time, we will not be grading students. You, as the parent, are ultimately your child's teacher, and you determine how to assess your student based on your own goals and assessment.

Books
We've done our best to select books that we believe will benefit our conversations. This does not mean that we support, condone, or agree with everything in these books. We will all use discernment as we journey together, seeking to establish our beliefs on Biblical truth.
Our family loves audiobooks! For the last couple of years, we've been using an app called Everand, which offers a monthly subscription with access to many books. I do recommend owning your own hard copy when possible so you can highlight, make notes, or quickly reference the material.
Registration
Students will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Our class sizes are intentionally small, with up to 12 students, and classes may fill quickly.
Fees
A $50 non-refundable deposit for each class is due at enrollment.
The remaining class fee is due within two weeks of enrollment or by August 1, whichever comes first.
If cost is a concern, please talk to us about a scholarship.

$20 sibling discount for each sibling of the first student enrolled.

$20 friend referral discount after the referred friend has paid the full class fee.
